Lough Key Forest Park
in Roscommon is a great day out for children. Not only is it beautiful but there's a lot to do for children young and old alike. There's an interactive playground, a viewing tower and a skywalk trail that takes you through the trees.

Kilkenny Castle
is a 12th century castle set in extensive parklands which was the home of the Butler family, Marquesses and Dukes of Ormonde. It is a stone castle with four towers, three of which still survive. The central block now includes a library, drawing room and bedrooms decorated in 1830's splendour as well as the beautiful Long Gallery. The grounds include a playground and lovely riverside walks which follow the route of the great wall and battlements overlooking the River Nore.
Wicklow Mountains National Park
is filled with mountains, lakes, rivers, streams, waterfalls, world-famous ancient ruins and there's even eagles and lizards to watch out for!
Connemara National Park
is really, really big. It's got some of the highest mountains in Connacht and includes bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. There's lots of walks to choose from – short, long, uphill and downhill. If you like bird watching then look out for Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, Stonechats, Chaffinches, Robins and Wrens. As dusk falls you might see rabbits, foxes, stoats, shrews and bats.
Glenveagh National Park
in Donegal consists of some 16,540 hectares (40,873 acres) of mountains, lakes, glens and woods, with a herd of red deer. A Scottish style castle is surrounded by one of the finest gardens in Ireland.
Marble Arch Caves
in Fermanagh are one of Europe's finest show caves where you can explore a fascinating, natural underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers.
